Help Coco's Spay and Neuter 1,000 Animals in 5 Days!

This August, Coco’s Animal Rescue is hosting a community spay and neuter clinic with the goal of offering free sterilization for over 1,000 animals in Playa del Carmen. And you can help!

Coco’s is seeking volunteers and monetary donations to assist with their free 5-day spay and neuter clinic taking place from August 11 through August 15, 2018, and they’re relying on help from other local groups, vets, volunteers, and individual doners to reach their goal.

Playa del Carmen continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in the world, and keeping the animal population under control is vital. Over the past 14 years, VIDAS, with support from Coco’s, has provided thousands of sterilizations during their August spay and neuter clinics. Due to the recent devastating events in Puerto Rico, their focus has shifted and Coco’s Animal Welfare is stepping up to run the spay and neuter clinic this year.

Volunteers are needed to help out during the clinic. If you’re going to be in town, this is a great way to get involved and give back to the local Playa del Carmen community! No experience is necessary; all you need to do is contact Coco’s and sign up to be a volunteer.

If aren't able to volunteer, but would still like to help you can make a monetary donation. The cost to set up the clinic and provide free sterilization to over 1,000 animals is $25,000 US dollars. So far, Coco’s has raised just $16,000 US dollars. All donations are matched up to $8,000 US dollars, so any monetary support you can provide will go twice as far.

For more info or to make a donation, visit Coco’s GoFundMe page.

Coco’s also needs donations of equipment and supplies. All of the specifics, including the items that are needed and drop-off locations can be found on their Facebook page.
