New Arts Fest Coming to Akumal

This November, escape to Akumal for three days of art, making, food, drink, and good company at Akumal Arts Fest presented by Turtle Bay Cafe and Tortuga Escondida Residency Center.

This brand new mural arts festival is taking place November 9, 10 & 11, 2018 in Akumal Pueblo, with satellite venues at Akumal Playa and Tortuga Escondida. Its purpose is to beautify the town for locals and visitors through art and community engagement. In addition to murals and site specific works, there will also be children's workshops, contests, music, performances, and interactive media.

More than 75 Mexican and international artists will be joining Akumal Arts Fest and every inch of the Akumal overpass bridge as well as every bare wall in town will be covered with art.

During the festival, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in workshops offered by visiting artists as well as to contribute to the beautification of the pueblo while helping to support local community organizations in Akumal and the Riviera Maya.

So whether you’re an artist or you’re simply interested in helping to support our local Akumal community, you don’t want to miss this incredible all-ages event!

Some festival details, including schedules and ticket info, are still being finalized. To stay up-to-date on all the latest, visit the Akumal Arts Fest website or follow Akumal Arts Fest on Facebook.

Tortuga Escondida Residency Center is dedicated to supporting scientific studies of our unique ecosystem, offering the inspiration of paradise for artists to create in, and providing a paradigm of wellness; integrating food, practitioners and healing arts. Tortuga Escondida is a place for making art, exchanging ideas, and connecting to nature, to others, to ourselves. Completed in 2016, this hidden jungle gem is in the heart of the Mayan Riviera.
