FLYBOARD IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN

Flyboarding is here in Playa del Carmen! Not just another pretty face among water sports, Flyboarding is a new-to-the-area water-sport where you can learn to walk on water, fly, do tricks and even dive like a dolphin!

I almost could not believe my eyes, when I first saw this sight! I thought I was in an old science fiction movie come true!

This sport originated in France and has now been going full force in Playa del Carmen in Playacar in the Reef Club Marina for about 3 months. In that short amount of time they have already had over 200 flights. Flyboard is sure to gain popularity with locals and tourists; it just looks like something that the adventurous of us HAVE TO TRY!

The Flyboard attaches to your feet. Water from a jet ski is pumped up a tube that shoots out through a system of tube and nozzles connected to the bottom of the Flyboard . When the water is pumped up from the jet ski motor it is ejected from nozzles at high speed and creates a thrust that gets you airborne.

The device is based on the principle of jet propulsion, need I say more. Just that alone should make you want to hop right on! By controlling the direction of the nozzles through which water is ejected, you can control the axes of thrust and thus control the direction in which you move. Sounds easy, right!? It really is! Raul at Acuatic Fly in Playa del Carmen says that most people get a pretty good handle on the sport after a couple of hours and are even starting to learn tricks.
