A Glimpse of Belmond Maroma's Spectacular Dining Event
When we received the invitation to attend a three day gastronomic festival at the exclusive Belmond Maroma Hotel, one of the most reputable hotels in the Riviera Maya, we knew that we were about to experience a unique and sensational culinary adventure. Local and international chefs and sommeliers all joined forces under the stars of the Belmond's private beach for an exclusive oceanfront dinner.
Three nights in a row, chefs and sommeliers worked together to create a spectacular menu for each night. Footwear aside and feet in the sand, enjoying an amazing ocean breeze, the first night was the perfect introduction and a fantastic first taste of this fabulous event!
One of our favorite Mexican wines was also one of the stars of the evening on the first night of the event. Vianney Vázquez Arroyo, a representative for Casa Madero, delightfully introduced the wines that would be carefully paired with every meal: A perfect balance of culinary flair and delectable wines.
The Belmond Maroma Hotel is a high-end hidden gem in the middle of the beautiful lush jungle. Located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, the exclusive boutique hotel offers its clientele an impressive award-winning wine cellar featuring a stunning collection of international wines and new-generation Mexican labels, for a total of approximately 3,000 bottles.

Every night, the staff lights over 1,000 candles all around the hotel facilities, to create a harmonious and peaceful ambiance.
The closing night of the amazing gastronomic event took place at El Sol Restaurant, where two chefs worked together to create a very special and unique menu that would close the three-day culinary adventure. The "One & One" special menu was created by Belmond's Chef Gabriel Kolofon and guest chef Michael Anthony from New York restaurant Gramercy Tavern, who teamed up for this particular exclusive dinner.
Together, both chefs used their own background, as well as local resources and products to design the final taste. Seafood, meat, spicy, sweet, all of which were nicely paired with fabulous Mexican wines and champagne under the direction of sommelier Aaron Alvarez and enologist Reynaldo Rodriguez.
