Seaside Rotary to Host 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off
Who makes the best chili in the Riviera Maya? YOU get to decide at Playa del Carmen Seaside Rotary's 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off!
The 2nd Annual Seaside Rotary Chili Cook-Off will be held at Latitude 20 Restaurant in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico on February 10, 2018 from 3pm to 6pm. All funds raised will go into the Seaside Rotary Charitable Giving account and be used to support the Puerto Aventuras Community Center, which provides health, educational, and social services to needy families.
Last year’s chili cook-off was a huge success, with six participating chefs and lines for tasters and judges that at times stretched nearly out to the beach! And the demand was so unexpected that most of the chefs ran out of chili within the first hour and a half. This year’s event at Latitude 20 in Puerto Aventuras is expected to be even bigger with more professional chefs and local home cooks competing for the title of “Best Chili in the Riviera Maya!”
Think you have what it takes? There is no cost to participate and present your very best chili recipe, but space is limited. The deadline for registration is February 2, 2018. The chili will be tasted and voted on by members of the community and a panel of celebrity judges.
Participants are encouraged to invite friends and family to "stack the deck" in their favor. The chili recipe with the most votes will win the People’s Choice Award and the celebrity judges will also pick their favorite. The winners will take home a trophy and bragging rights!
The cost to attend, taste all of the delicious chili recipes and cast your vote for your favorite is just 200 pesos, 100 pesos for children under 12. Children 5 and under, free.

Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside is dedicated to helping to improve the lives of disadvantaged youth and families in Playa del Carmen, Mexico through fundraising and volunteer support for local charitable organizations. Some of their recent projects include helping the local school in Torres De La Paz by installing a solar panels and a water purification system, and providing healthcare services to underserved communities in our area.
Seaside Rotary welcomes both men and women. The membership convenes for lunch meetings every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Boston’s Restaurant on Av. 115 and Constituyentes in Playa del Carmen.
