SPENDING THE HOLIDAYS AT YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME?
Thanksgiving is almost here and suddenly you are frantically organizing your holiday to-do list! Whether you're living in Playa del Carmen during the holiday season or vacationing, there are many different ways to celebrate at your home away from home!
For some of you, it may be the first year you are in Playa del Carmen for Thanksgiving and away from the comforts of home, but others have already started new Playa del Carmen Thanksgiving traditions! Whether it's going to your favorite restaurant or cooking your own delicious Thanksgiving dinner in your vacation kitchen, Playa del Carmen celebrates the American traditions to which you are accustomed!
If you are looking for an alternative to slaving over a hot stove and hours of dish-washing, there are some great restaurant options in Playa; some even right on the beach! What better way to spend Thanksgiving than to eat your turkey with your feet in the sand! Wah Wah Beach Bar is throwing their Annual Thanksgiving "All-you-can-eat Bash" from 4-7pm with traditional Thanksgiving favorites, from turkey and dressing to homemade pumpkin pie, for only 150 pesos!
Another homemade but outside-of-your-home restaurant option is Mom's Bar on Avenida 30 and Calle 4. Make your reservations now for the traditional Thanksgiving buffet at 7:00 pm to feature turkey and ham with all the trimmings for only $175 pesos per person. This feast includes pumpkin pie for dessert.
If you're spending Thanksgiving in Akumal, the restaurant favorite, Lol Ha will also be joining in on the festivities with dinner seatings and live music entertainment at 6:30 and 8:00pm. The menu will include roast turkey, side dishes, and dessert for $25.00 US for adults and $16.50 for children 12 and under. Please make reservations as this annual special event fills up quickly.
For those of you who prefer to prepare Thanksgiving dinner yourself, there are plenty of grocery stores to get you through. Walmart, Sam's Club, Mega, Soriana and other major grocery stores will be selling turkeys (fresh and frozen), and most of the usual fixin's. If you're vacationing alone or missing loved ones, there are always new friends to be made in this popular tourist destination who would enjoy a holiday invite! Create new traditions, try new recipes, and start the holiday season off in your own way.
