Umi Rooftop: A Japanese Culinary Experience With Ocean Views
Discovering the beauty of Playa del Carmen by walking on its white sandy beaches or strolling down 5th Avenue is always a good idea and a great way to enjoy our beloved beach town, but did you know that Playa also has numerous rooftops throughout the city where you can spend the day in a pool or enjoying dinner with gorgeous downtown views and, of course, stunning ocean views? Either by purchasing a Day Pass, where you will only need to pay a minimum consumption to use the facilities during the day, or by reserving a table in the evening at one of the restaurants that offer unique views & ambiance, city lights and an ocean breeze.

Speaking of unique ambiance and ocean views…. We were invited to the launch of Umi, a fabulous rooftop restaurant on the top floor of the Thompson Hotel. Previously known as Catch, Umi is a brand-new concept in our town and we are excited to tell you all about it!

Umi is inspired by Asian cuisine with a Contemporary Tokyo Izakaya kitchen concept led by the Chef Osamu from Japan. The idea is to share different dishes and appetizers from the menu with your group or significant other, and try as much deliciousness as possible, while enjoying a unique ambiance with live music or a DJ in the evenings. The ocean breeze and views are the cherry on top of the cake!

We usually put a small description below every food photo in our articles, but this time we will let you use your imagination. That way, you can discover the whole menu when you go for the first time ;)
