VOLUNTEER TO HELP SEA TURTLES IN THE RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO
Flora, Fauna y Cultura de Mexico Experiencias Xcaret are looking for volunteers to help in their sea turtle conservation project.
The time in now to help this endangered species! Join this volunteer program and participate in the effort to preserve these ancient beings.
When?
The nesting season of marine turtles in Quintana Roo begins on May 1st and goes all the way through October 31st of each year.
Because of the breadth of this program and its relationship to the reproductive cycle of the turtles, the minimum stay for volunteering is one month.
This sea turtle program has the need for volunteers to participate in the following activites:
- Night walks to look for nesting sea turtles
- Cleaning of nests in the protected areas
- Release of hatchlings
- Day tours
- Attendance at business meetings
- Participation in environmental education activities
- Maintenance of the camp
Requirements:
- Have excellent disposition for teamwork.
- 18 years of age minimum.
- Be positive and responsible.
- Be enthusiastic and adaptable to unexpected and new situations.
- Feel comfortable in rustic conditions and remote locations.
- Willingness to get along with people from different countries/cultures.
• Have excellent physical condition and be able to walk for several hours night or day.
- Resistance to physical exertion under conditions of intense heat or rain.
