Mayakoba resorts are once again organizing their annual bike race “La Vuelta Mayakoba”, with two events over two days taking cyclists on a journey through the roads of the Riviera Maya. This year, the race takes place on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16 (kicking off with a Friday night party at El Pueblito Mayakoba on Friday the 14 at 7 pm). The route will go from Mayakoba to Coba then Tulum on Day 1, then from Tulum to Mayakoba on Day 2.
The cost to enter is $1600 pesos per person (does not include hotel in Tulum), and you can sign up on AsDeporte.com by clicking here. This site also has all the details on requirements and the route.
Funds raised from ticket sales will go to Instituto Tumben Xch’upal (a Mayan word meaning “new woman”). This association provides support for women and pregnant teens who have suffered from abuse and violence, helping them to reintegrate into society through employment, offering a safe place to live for the women and their children, and providing rehabilitation and psychological/support services.
