Independence Day Party at El Pueblito Mayakoba

When: Thursday September 15, 9 pm – 1 am

Where: El Pueblito square at Mayakoba resort complex, entrance off the highway 5 minutes north of Playa del Carmen

Designed as a traditional Mexican town square, the charming El Pueblito is the perfect atmosphere to celebrate Mexican Independence Day! The fiesta will have local fare, mariachis, games and even fireworks, plus El Grito. Price is only $200 pesos for adults and $100 pesos for kids, which is used for food and drinks during the event. Tickets can be bought on arrival, no need to reserve.


6-Course Mexican Dinner at IMPREVIST

When: Thursday September 15, 6 pm – 11 pm

Where: 1st Avenue between Calle 14 Norte and Calle 16 Norte

One of our favorite Playa del Carmen restaurants is celebrating Mexican Independence Day with a 6-course tasting dinner highlighting “traditional Mexican cuisine with a slight creative twist”, featuring a menu created by Chef Juan Diego Solombrino. The dinner is part of IMPREVIST’s International Nights where they highlight cuisine from different countries through special tasting events. Price is $600 pesos per person (not including tip), and they will be celebrating El Grito plus free tequila at midnight. Mexican Dinner at Frida Kahlo

When: Thursday September 15

Where: 5th Avenue and Calle 8

To celebrate Mexican Independence Day, Frida Kahlo restaurant will be hosting a tasting menu for dinner with classic Mexican snacks, complemented by an evening of mariachi music, live groups and a DJ. The cost is $450 pesos per person, and it also includes two drinks (Mexican beers, tequila or mezcal). Make your reservation by calling (984)803-2920. Through September 30, the restaurant is also serving chile en nogada, a traditional dish made in Mexico especially during the Independence month.


3-Day Party at Thompson Playa del Carmen

When: September 15, 16 and 17

Where: Thompson Rooftop (5th Avenue and Calls 12) and Thompson Beach House (Calle 8 and the beach)

The new Thompson hotel is hosting three days of parties to celebrate Mexican Independence Day with their Vive Mexico event. Thursday September 15 starting at 10 pm is the main party featuring live DJ Mariana Bo at Thompson Rooftop. Friday September 16 from 1 pm to 6 pm is the Hangover Party at Thompson Beach House. Saturday September 17 is the Pool Party (12 pm to 6 pm) at Thompson Rooftop, followed by another party at 10 pm with live DJ Anthony Attalla. Free Shots and Beer at La Caguameria

Not much else to say here… La Caguameria will be giving out free shots and beers to celebrate El Grito, and there will be live music, too.


Independanza Festival at Canibal Royal

When: Thursday September 15, 3 pm – 4 am

Where: Canibal Royal Beach Club at Calle 48 and the beach

Electronic music finds can dance the night away at this Independence Day festival on the beach, featuring WhoMadeWho and other music groups like Titan, Rob Garza, Saiko and more.
