Mexican Independence Day Events 2017 in Playa del Carmen
On the night of September 15th, the entire country of Mexico will come together to celebrate their independence. Every year Mexicans gather at their local zocalos, bars and restaurants for “El Grito” (The Cry of Independence), yelling “Viva Mexico!” out of pride for this amazing country.
And in Playa del Carmen, we will be doing the same. Just like any other year, for September 15, 2017 many local bars, restaurants and even beach clubs are offering specials and fun Mexican events. Here’s the list of the ones we have found so far:
Independence Day Party at El Pueblito Mayakoba
When: Friday September 15, 9 pm – 1 am
Where: El Pueblito square at Mayakoba resort complex, entrance off the highway 5 minutes north of Playa del Carmen
Designed as a traditional Mexican town square, the charming El Pueblito is the perfect atmosphere to celebrate Mexican Independence Day! The fiesta is also the opening night cocktail event for Playa Fest 2017 and will feature incredible cuisine prepared by guest chefs and delicious drinks.
Admission is free and plates cost $50 pesos each.
Independence Day Party at Frida Kahlo
When: Friday September 15
Where: Frida Kahlo Restaurant, 5th Avenue and Calle 8
To celebrate Mexican Independence Day, Frida Kahlo restaurant will be hosting a tasting dinner with classic Mexican snacks, complemented by an evening of mariachi music and the traditional El Grito.

Independence Day Party at Thompson Playa del Carmen

Independence Day Dinner at ArtHumus

ArtHumus and Carmen Beer Co. have paired up to host Independence Day dinner. There will be mezcal tastings with Toro Eduardo Sanchez and PapaDiablo, craft beer from Carmen Beer Co. and delicious Mexican tacos al pastor, along with music and dancing.

Carmen Beer Co. is hosting a variety of special events for Independence Day weekend, beginning with a festive dinner featuring a modern Mexican menu for El Grito. There will be music, karaoke, and specially brewed "Mexican Flag cerveza trio" of green mint, red Hibiscus and traditional Clara Carmen beers. The cost is $550 pesos per person.

Kermesse Mexicana at The Fives Plaza

Here's a Mexican Independence Day celebration that the whole family can enjoy! There will be delicious food, drinks, live music, activities for kids, and so much more. The price per person is $450 pesos including food and drinks. Children 7 and over $200 pesos.
Noche Mexicana at StrEAT Park

StrEAT Park is hosting a festive Independence Day party with food trucks, Mexican food, music, games and a great atmosphere. This is a fun event for all ages. The festivities get underway at 6pm and admission is free.
Multicultural Night at ChouxChoux Cafe
When: Friday September 15 and Saturday September 16
Where: ChouxChoux Cafe, 20th Ave and Calle 24 Norte
El Centro de Experimentación de las Artes (CEART) and ChouxChoux Café present an evening of dance, art, music, food and much more in celebration of Mexican Independence Day. This is a community event and everyone is welcome.
